Not Another Technical Blog!
Yes, you are that lucky. I am a .NET coder/web developer who enjoys writing, so voila! You get this blog. I am a man of mixed interests. Not only do I enjoy technical things and art (about which I will write here) but I also enjoy the field of biblical studies and Christian history. You can follow my reading and thinking in that area on over the Archaic Christianity blog (and eventually I’ll start blogging there again). To find out more about me, visit my home page on the web, http://www.ericsowell.com, or read below.
Who Am I?
First of all, I am a man with a family. I have been married to my wife Kathryn now for about 12 years (as of 2011). We have three children, Jonathan, Abigail and Samuel. We live in Garland, TX.
In college I realized what I wanted to do when I grew up. I wanted to teach. Specifically, I wanted to teach Hellenistic Greek and biblical studies. That is why I went to Dallas Theological Seminary for my masters degree. Since I want to teach at a university level, I still have to go back to school and get my PhD. I do not know when, but that is likely coming. However, near the end of my seminary journey I stumbled onto programming. It was actually a strange set of circumstances, which I will not go into here. Before I had spend some time with Macromedia Flash and Authorware and I really enjoyed it, but I decided to try something a little more meaty in January of 2003, C#. It did not take long. I was hooked.
So now I live something of a double life. Some of the things that I do marry my Greek background and my programming skills. At some point I will go back to school and hopefully start teaching at a university. That may be part or full time. I enjoy development way too much at this point to quit.
So right now I am a developer. By day I do ASP.NET. By night I mess around with lots of different things, like Ruby on Rails, Linux, Node.js et a.
